Tuesday, January 14, 2025 will be a planning day in Jackson County. This means that all staff will report to their school at 9:00 and students will stay home and enjoy another snow day.

Jackson County Public Schools is currently seeking nominations for Business/Community Leader Representatives for the Local Planning Committee that will meet to develop a four-year District Facilities Plan to provide “equitable and adequate” facilities for our students. Nominations will be accepted now through Friday, January 17 at 5:00. The nominee must not be employed by Jackson County Public Schools or serve on the Board of Education. The Board of Education shall select two representatives from the nominees at the next board meeting. To make a nomination, please use this form and either mail the form or drop it off to Barbara Masters, Jackson County Board of Education at 3331 HWY 421 North, McKee, KY 40447. All nominees will be notified of their nomination and must accept nomination to be considered by the Board of Education.

Jackson County Public Schools is taking full advantage of winter break to spruce up your Jackson County High School gymnasium with a fresh coat of paint. Stay tuned for new vinyl and mats that will strengthen the JCHS brand and make you even more proud to be a General!


Construction crews are working overtime through Christmas Break- getting as much done as possible. The gym is just one of the focuses. The floor is currently sanded and almost ready for stain. The gym will be two-toned stain with inside the 3-point line being a darker stain. It will look grand and, of course, customized to reflect JCMS General colors and logo.

Jackson County Public School’s Veteran’s Day Program
Veteran’s please join us for our annual Veteran’s Day Observance and Program, on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Jackson County High School. Following the Program at Jackson County High School, there will be a Veteran’s Day Observance at the Veteran’s Memorial Park at 11:00 AM.
Immediately following the Veteran’s Day Observance at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, there will be a meal provided in the Jackson County High School Gymnasium for all the Veterans.
We would like to thank the following for helping with this year’s program, our JCHS AJROTC teachers/students, JCHS Family Consumer Science teachers/students, JCHS Band teacher/students, Jackson County Public Schools Community Education, and Jackson County Public Schools.
Most of all we would like to thank our Veterans for their dedicated service and sacrifice to ensure the freedoms that we have today. We look forward to seeing all of our Veterans on Monday, November 11, 2024. Again, thank you for your service!

Jackson County Public Schools is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Elizabeth Norris has been named the Kentucky District Assessment Coordinator of the year. This prestigious honor was awarded on October 25th at the Kentucky Association of Assessment Coordinators Conference. Superintendent Renee Smith; Barbara Masters; and Mrs. Norris' family—her husband, Kendall Norris; son, Zach Norris; and daughter-in-law, Sarah Norris—were present to see her receive this award. celebrating her hard work and commitment to the staff and students of JCPS.

Jackson County School District is excited about the renovation completion of the concrete steps that lead from the Softball field to JCHS as well as the steps that lead to the student parking lot. New steps were added to the lower parking lot to make travel to the high school more convenient and safer for students and families to use. The renovation included the removal and replacement of the old hand railings which were breaking off the existing stairs and the addition of large rocks for erosion control.
