Saturday, February 1st was an amazing day for elementary academic teams. Sand Gap elementary hosted a wonderful District Governor's Cup tournament. The district would like to recognize the winners for both team and individual events. Today was a great day for Jackson County Public Schools. I am so proud of our students that participated and competed today from McKee, Sand Gap and Tyner. I am thankful for all the hard work that our coaches devote to their students. It was great to see all the parents, grandparents, teachers and principals, together in one school celebrating our kids. A special thank you goes out to Sand Gap Elementary for hosting such a wonderful day.

All buses will be back to normal tomorrow, Thursday, January 30, 2025, except Bus 235, it still can't get to Rocky Branch. I want to thank everyone for being so patient and understanding during this time.

Here is an updated list of bus routes. If your bus is not listed, it will run on regular schedule and route.

There will be school in Jackson County, Monday, January 27, 2025. We have some changes to bus routes but I will include a list of all changes. Please add the Bus 224 Moore Rd. will meet at 89 N

There will be no school in Jackson County, Thursday, January 23 and Friday, January 24, 2025. These will be traditional snow days.

There will be no school in Jackson County, Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This will be a traditional snow day.

REMINDER Today, January 17 by 5:00, is the last day to nominate a community/business leader from the county to serve on the District Planning Committee that will develop the next facilities plan for Jackson County Public Schools due June 2025. Since I mistakenly left out a dot in my email address (which is now corrected), I wanted to provide a list of nominees that have been received as of today at 12:30. If you want to nominate someone that is not listed or if you turned in a nomination that is not listed, please resubmit. You may drop it off at the Board of Education or you can email it to barbara.masters@jackson.kyschools.us by 5:00 today. Jackson County Public Schools is currently seeking nominations for Business/Community Leader Representatives for the Local Planning Committee that will meet to develop a four-year District Facilities Plan to provide “equitable and adequate” facilities for our students. Nominations will be accepted now through Friday, January 17 at 5:00. The nominee must not be employed by Jackson County Public Schools or serve on the Board of Education. The Board of Education shall select two representatives from the nominees at the next board meeting.
