Return to Traditional In-Person Instruction

Return to Traditional In-Person Instruction

Monday, October 5, 2020

Jackson County Public Schools are pleased to announce that we will be offering Traditional In-Person Instruction Option beginning Monday, October 5, 2020.  According to the COVID-19 Mode of Instruction Metric provided by KDH and KDE, we are at an acceptable level to begin.  We wanted to reassure everyone that Jackson County Public Schools will be following the “Healthy at School/Healthy at Work” guidance and will be providing a safe learning and working environment for our students and staff.

Based upon the Mode of Instruction Metric, our District will make a determination each week on Thursday afternoon, if Traditional In-Person Instruction will continue for the entire following week (Monday through Friday).  We are very hopeful and optimistic that we may continue with Traditional In-Person Instruction; in the event that changes, notification will be given on Thursday afternoon to parents/guardians and the community that our District will be transitioning back to the Virtual Learning Platform.

Resources for Families

The closing of schools due to COVID-19 is preventing many of Kentucky's students from the meals they rely on. Schools and private non-profit organizations are working around the clock to meet this need for students with as many options as possible.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) is solely overseeing another round of P-EBT benefits, only covering the periods of August and September. Neither the school district nor the Kentucky Department of Education will be able to answer questions or provide assistance with this round of P-EBT.  Please direct ALL P-EBT questions to CHFS at 1-855-306-8959.

COVID Reporting

Governor Beshear put an Emergency Administrative Regulation (902 KAR 2:220E) into force on September 14, 2020, in order to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the school setting.  Under the new regulation, all parents and guardians are required to report to the child’s school within 24 hours if their child tests positive for COVID-19 or if their child is under quarantine due to a COVID-19 exposure.
