Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  We are ready to return TIGER STRONG!

I am honored to be the principal of this great school and to be part of an outstanding team of faculty, staff, parents, and community.  This school year is a beginning of firsts for us and our tigers.  This school year is beginning with two options:  1.  In-Person Instruction and 2. Real-Time Virtual Instruction.  Whichever option you have chosen, know that the staff and administration at Sand Gap Elementary will be with you every step of the way and are looking forward to all Tigers being back at school as soon as possible.  Our instruction begins at 7:45 and ends at 3:00.

I encourage you to become active participants in your child’s education. A nightly routine of reading to your child, talking about their day, and getting them prepared for the next day of school is a great way to help your child be successful at school.

Our expectations for all students are: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe.

A student that is not at school cannot be successful and it is each parent’s responsibility to make sure their child attends school.  Please make sure appointments are made for after school or late afternoon and, unless sick, that your child is in instruction daily.  When your child misses instruction, they can watch the recording and complete assignments before 12:00 that night.

It is important to read and become familiar with this handbook.  It will help you and your child to understand the rules and procedures that will be followed.   Realize that there is an additional piece added to this handbook that is just for our pandemic situation that is occurring now.

Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail should you have a question that you cannot find answered in this handbook.
